Spartan Arts Media Platform Project

How do you connect all of your social media channels in one platform while utilizing a web shop so all of your subscribers can meet and also purchase digital and physical artwork.

Challenge

Client had his users in a multitude of places and made it difficult to stay connected.

Client had users from Facebook, Instagram, Discord and Patreon following and supporting. However, when it came time for users to purchase from him, they would have to go on a wild link goose chase to support both his digital and physical artwork. It was also difficult to chase down orders from different platforms.

  • YouTube Subscription

  • Patreon Subscription

So not only did the client have subscribers on two platforms that he had to manage, he had followers elsewehere as well.

1.Competitive Analysis

3.Storytelling.

2.Wireframes

To understand the market, I looked at a few local comic book stores and suplliers to understand how to make my client successful in reaching his audience.audiences

After getting the data, I conferred with the client about wireframes and the ways we believed would reach his audience in the most authentic way.

Utilizing the client's artwork, we were able to tell a story to every user from the landing page, letting them know that they were beginning a journey into a library of digital art.

Elements of UX Design that will not be discussed in this Case Study.

Communication

To understand my client's users' needs, I conducted a survey with some of his most loyal followers across different platforms to inquire what they like best about my client and what attracts them to return and purchase content.

Through a lot of ideation and checking with client, I believe we accomplished a simple, yet effective way to reach his users. Judging from the numbers, (on average, 100 unique visits per month*), I would like to say we accomplished our goal.

Having multiple conversations with my client ensured that the process went smoothly and there were no surprises between the two of us.

Why was this important?

Consolidating platforms so that my client could reach his users more conveniently and be able to share his artwork made for a more accessible experience.

It made my client's services:

  • Mobile friendly

  • Gave him potential to market his products

  • It provided a higher success rate than having to sift through emails for orders.

What was the issue to solve?

As mentioned, it was difficult to keep track of multiple subscribers over multiple platforms and be able to fulfill orders on multiple platforms. With this project completed, the client now has a one stop shop where he can advertise, market, and sell his digital art and be notified of all orders immediately to make turnaround more effiicient and profitable.

Multiple Platforms

VS.

  • One Homebase

  • Less Clicks

  • Less open pages for users to keep up with

  • Salespage to sell items.

Key Takeaways
(for the client)

100+

Unique monthly visitors with a way to track them via hosting website since launch.

240

Comic books sold without using email or call in orders using a simple click and order process.

15

Months since launch with client having more success reaching clie

7

Number of comic book chapters the client is up to now. Started with three, proving that the client is growing.

Key takeaways and things i learned.

1 / User Empathy is key to understanding the needs of the client.

Sometimes a client will ask for something or has an ideal in their head that isn't the best solution for their growth. The only way to understand what it is they are looking for is to continue to ask questions.

2 / There are levels to Design

Working with a digital artist is stressful in that this client spent his entire life in the world of drawing and to impress him was a good feeling. The only way I was able to do that, however, was to lean on my education in UX Design and understand spacing and the principles of design.

3 / Ideation leads to Starting Over many times.

Multiple times during this process, I would get an idea and explore it and even bring it to the client. Sometimes the client would love the idea, but then when testing time came, the users were not so thrilled. Testing and research is really important in UX Design.
